It's stronger in your hand than you might think, in fact, it's almost shocking in its size. The rubber on the body of the tool is soft to the touch, contrasting with the smooth metal that makes up the top and bottom. The stainless steel blade opens by pushing down on the small piece at the bottom of the cutter, which releases the spring loaded section upwards. You then place the cap of the cigar into the indentation and push down on the top, this creates a smooth movement which forces the actual cutter itself through the cap of the cigar. As the blade passes through the cap and reaches the end of its travel, it clicks to lock into place and stays that way until you press the trigger again.

The dent in the head when cutting was a little deep for my taste, which meant that every cigar I cut with it at first had a draw that was too open. I solved this problem relatively easily by not pushing the cap all the way down into the hole in the cutter when cutting the cigar, although this sometimes resulted in a poor cut as you basically keep the cigar in the space while using the cutter.

Secondly, the small round head that you push down to release the top half obviously sticks out from the rest of the cutter and it snaps into my pocket and the edge of the pocket of the bag I carry my laptop in on certain occasions during the time I use it.
